Ha ha...did i say left hand? Of course I meant RIGHT hand and RIGHT shoulder...anyway, just to say again, this allowed me to release right hand over left through impact without the fear of closing the club too much and hooking...ball was really fizzing off the clubface! Can't wait till Sunday on the golf course (Conor 13 h'cap)

At the range tonight I weakened my left hand grip into a more neutral position (the crease between thumb and forefinger was pointing towards my left shoulder) and I found that I was able to release fairly aggressively through the ball...right hand over left...and my ball striking improved dramatically...just goes to prove that you cant neglect fundamentals!

Quoting Daniel Wagelmans:
How is your teaching compared to Ben Hogan's?
Grip?
Posture?
Turning hips on downswing?

I believe that we are trying to get everyone to swing the same as Ben Hogan. Contrary to what many teachers comments are on Ben Hogan’s swing, his was the simplest, most energy efficient and least demanding physically. We teach the grip exactly the same way – the correct, neutral position. I believe Ben Hogan’s ideas on stance ie posture were slightly wrong. The turning of the hips on the downswing should be a reactionary movement – he placed too much emphasis on this as the lead movement, in my opinion. It’s like when you throw a stone – your hips move first, but it’s not a conscious movement.
